CHASTAIN PARK, ATLANTA, GA PERFORMANCE REVIEWS
Having been "blown away" two weeks ago, by the Soundstage taping in Chicago I didn't know how Peter could top that. Well, I am happy to report that Wednesday's show at Chastain Park in Atlanta was fantastic.
The outdoor Amphitheater is in a northern residential section of Atlanta in a park surrounded by woods. The locals have been going to concerts there for the past 30 years. The tradition is passed on from one generation to the next (in attendance we had grandparents, parents and their kids) of bringing their dinner, wine, candles, etc. The word CLASS kept coming into my head all through the night.
It was an en extremely hot-muggy night in Atlanta and it must have been even hotter under the bright stage lights. The show opened with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Arnie Roth, doing a medley of Peter's songs. Then Peter and his band took the stage and they opened with No Explanation. The set list I believe was the same as the Sound Stage taping. Highlights included: Restless Heart; Hard to Say I'm Sorry; Your the Inspiration; and all of the duets (After All, Feels Like Heaven, and Next Time I Fall) with Kim Keyes who has an incredible voice.
He played for about two hours with a short intermission. The show ended with 25 or 6 to 4 and Have You Ever Been In Love.
If you get the chance, you have to see Peter Cetera with a full symphony orchestra.
Don't miss this show !!
